Autumn Mushroom Picking!

IMG_2364

Most people think about Revelstoke as an amazing winter destination for skiing, sledding and a host of other outdoor activities including snowshoeing, dog sledding, nordic skiing and even winter biking. We are also known as a great summer hiking and mountain biking place. But did you know that during autumn, the mushrooms picking is incredible?!? In particular, Matsutake (The Pine Mushroom) can be found if you’re lucky enough to know the right places. These prized mushrooms can fetch over $100/pound in Japan! Even if you can’t find Matsutake, the hiking in the forest is so relaxing and calming you won’t be disappointed. Come and stay with us in autumn. The town is quiet, the weather perfect for hiking, and we just might be able to cook up some amazing mushrooms!

On Track for Record Snow Year

The snow started falling early this year high on the mountain. Already this year 700cm has fallen, and with a base of 178cm (as of January 12, 2017), the conditions on the mountain are fantastic! Great coverage from top to bottom. Here’s the link to the historical snow tracker; looking good for a record year!
